Bullying in school……

Auntie Armistead has recently been very saddened by the news that some children in school are being bullied :-(

Some of you have written to me asking how best to deal with the bullies, I hope these tips help…….

1) Make sure you tell someone. This may be your teacher, a parent/guardian or a friend. They will be able to offer you advice and perhaps encourage you to stand up to the bully.

2) Keep a journal. Keep a short diary of incidents that happen. That way, when the bully is being dealt with, you have proof of what has happened. This could be in the form of pictures, short notes or even a story.

3) Don’t be a bully back. If someone says or does something nasty to you, it is very tempting to want to say or do something nasty back to them. DON’T! Don’t give the bully any ammunition. When it comes to challenging them, you don’t want to hear ‘Yes I did say that but they said …… back to me”.

4) Raise the issue in class council/school council. Every class should be having class council once per week. Speak about your concerns anonymously (don’t identify anyone by name) This can be fed back to your school councillor who in turn can raise the issues in school council with Miss Ainsworth.

I hope this helps anyone who may be a victim of bullying. REMEMBER- don’t suffer in silence- tell someone!

Take care kiddy winks……

This week we will be doing lots of fun things in school!
In Literacy the children will be writing up their revolting recipe’s as part of our instructions topic- resulting in a 5A Recipe booklet, available in all good book stores! This will be followed by the new unit on persuasive writing- a great topic!
In numeracy we will continue our work on measurements and watch out for lots of fun measuring activities, including each other and objects around the classroom!
Other topics include javelin in PE, using the laptops for research on Ancient Greece and continuing the Christmas story in RE.
A great week ahead! Any ideas for any activities you would like to do in school children, make sure you post them on the blog!
